Roll Call is a video and sound animation made from hundreds of Kandos school photographs held by Kandos Museum. This website shows a small selection from the larger archive of images used in the work. Local teachers Leanne Besant and Cheryl Murray contributed their knowledge of the people, places and histories in the photographs, with both women’s voices calling names aloud across the animation.Installed in the museum during Cementa24, Roll Call became a gathering point for the Kandos community. Locals came to look for themselves, family members, friends, former students and teachers, and to hear familiar names spoken back into the room.
